Balfour adds non-exec director

16 May 2017 Contractor Balfour Beatty has appointed a new non-executive director with a broad range of experience, spanning private firms such as Morgan Sindall to government departments.

Barbara Moorhouse has been appointed to the role and will take up the position from 1 June. She has over 30 years of business and management experience in the private, public and regulated sectors.

Her experience includes acting as finance director at Morgan Sindall, regulatory director at South West Water and director general at the Ministry of Justice and the Department for Transport, supporting policy implementation and leading commercial projects.

Most recently, she was appointed chief operating officer at Westminster City Council. She is currently a non-executive director at Microgen, IDOX, Agility Trains and the Lending Standards Board, and is a trustee of Guy’s & St Thomas’ Charity.

“I am delighted that Barbara is joining the Balfour Beatty board,” said chief executive Philip Aiken. “She brings significant and broad experience from relevant sectors and business models, having experience from both the supplier and client side.”
