Avon & Somerset police deal closes

2 October 2012 Financial close has been reached on the £102m Avon & Somerset Police PFI contract.
The Blue Light Partnership, comprising contractors Miller Construction and Bilfinger Berger Project Investments, has signed the deal to develop four sites across the region, which will include an operations base, custody and crime scene investigation centres and a firearms training centre.

Senior debt for the project is being provided by Aviva Public Private Finance.

“The current financial market has meant that financial close has been challenging, however, by working innovatively with our client, our partners and our funders, solutions have been provided to ensure a successful close,” said Miller chief executive Chris Webster.

Work has already begun on two of the sites, while the other two will see work commence in 2013. All projects are expected to be completed in early 2014.
