UK - Saab Training Systems signs 100 million SEK key contracts with UK Ministry of Defence

30 April 2003 Saab Training Systems signs 100 million SEK key contracts with UK Ministry of Defence
Saab Training Systems has been awarded two contracts from the UK Ministry of Defence; UK Land Digitisation Work and BGTI Work (Battle Group Thermal Imager).

The UK Land Digitisation work contract includes the update of previously delivered Saab BT 46 simulator systems to be compatible with the British Army new digital radio system BOWMAN, a system that will provide secure tactical combat communications for UK land, air and littoral operations. Delivery will take place mid 2004.

The contract for BGTI Work includes an integration of the simulator system with the new BGTI (Battle Group Thermal Imager) sight that will be introduced on Warrior and Scimitar vehicles from 2004.

- As the customer invests in new modern technology it is important that the training environment develops with it. This order proves again that our equipment has its special role in training of the British Army, says Johan Ohlson, President, Saab Training Systems.

The upgrade features several improvements with respect to realism, thermal and night capability. It will also provide an eye safe laser range finder and open up the possibility of future enhancements to DFWES.

Saab is one of the world's leading high-technology companies with its main operations focusing on defence, aviation and space. The group covers a broad spectrum of competence and capability in systems integration.
