Project Information
Project name: TELFORD AND WREKIN BSF (SECOND PHASE)
Project description:

The second and last phase of the £200m BSF programme is being retendered. The Building Schools for the Future programme will close six schools and be replaced with new buildings, mainly on other sites. The reviewed plan includes:

  • Ercall Wood Technology College
  • a new Christian faith school in Priorslee to replace the Blessed Robert Johnson Catholic College
  • a 1,200-pupil co-operative academy to replace Sutherland Business and Enterprise College and Wrockwardine Wood Arts College
  • Lord Silkin School and Grange Park Primary will be merged and relocated to a new school site in Stirchley
  • Charlton School will be rebuilt on the current Blessed Robert Johnson site.

This BSF scheme has two unusual features:

  • It will be delivered under the Academies framework system rather than the Private Finance Initiative method.
  • The council will provide ICT facilities rather than the winning contractor.
