Australian investment giant Macquarie has appointed John Pickard as its new deputy head of equities.

Previously the chief investment officer at Martin Currie, Pickard has worked in leadership roles across the industry, including as UBS’s first head of Asian equities and leading the European equities team.

He joins from h2glenfern, where he served as a partner and led the firm’s ESG practice.

Macquarie’s global head of equities John Leonard said the appointment “represents an exciting evolution” for the firm as it continues to “grow as a leading specialist active manager”.
