The Chilean Ministry of Public Works has unveiled the winner of its $297m Los Ríos-Los Lagos P3 hospitals network.
Mexican consortium Constructora y Edificadora GIA + A SA de CV has been awarded the package, beating an Ibero-Asian consortium including the China Road and Bridge Corporation.
Under the plans, over 495 new hospital beds will be delivered across the Los Lagos region, with the winning team operating and maintaining the facilities for a further 19 years.
Earlier this year, undersecretary Cristóbal Leturia said this three-hospital bundle brings the total of tendered healthcare P3s to 12, taking it over the halfway mark of a 20-hospital program.
“I think it is a sample that there is a lot of interest to continue building hospitals under this route and it gives us the opportunity to considerably increase the country's hospital capacity.”
Earlier this year, the ministry announced that OHL had won the race for a $328m four-hospital bundle, beating off competition from Sacyr and Acconia.
