Star America expands NY investment team

Star America Infrastructure Partners has added Joseph Abitbol as Investment Director to the team in Roslyn, New York.

Earlier in 2019 Abitbol had been retained to work on the Digital Crossroads Data Center project for Star America where he is responsible for the overall management and delivery of the project.  Previously, he worked at AECOM Capital P3, where he led the successful financial closing of the I-75 Segment 3 Project in Michigan.

Prior to AECOM Capital P3, he worked as a Director at SG Americas Securities in the infrastructure and asset-backed financing team, originating, structuring, and advising on more than USD17bn worth of project finance transactions.

In addition to transportation infrastructure, Abitbol is also involved in the broader spectrum of infrastructure including the social and telecommunications sectors.

Separately, Star America has announced financial close as an equity partner on the fourth phase of a mixed-use student housing project for The University of Texas at Dallas. The project will be co-developed with Balfour Beatty Campus Solutions and Dallas-based residential and commercial developer Wynne/Jackson.

The project will expand on our Northside phase I, II and phase III investments, delivering an additional 387 housing units.

Located on a 8.4-acre lot ground-leased by the university, located adjacent to the previous phases, the project will include mid-rise apartments that will add 675 beds with easy access to restaurants and entertainment venues which serve the more than 25,000 students, faculty, staff and young professionals of the University.

The project broke ground on December 11th and will be delivered in July of 2021 in preparation for the 2021/2022 academic year. It will be built by Dallas-based Andres Construction, who will lead the overall design/build team, featuring Architecture Demarest as the lead design firm.  Andres and Demarest were in the same roles for the successful delivery of phase 2 and are currently working on phase 3 as well.
