Illinois DOT to recruit new P3 chief

The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) is seeking a new head of its Innovative Project Delivery unit

The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) is seeking a new head of its Innovative Project Delivery unit.

A spokesperson for the department has confirmed to P3 Bulletin that the Bureau Chief, Innovative Project Delivery position remains open following the departure of Samuel Beydoun last month.

Beydoun joined the US Department of Transportation’s (USDOT) Build America Bureau as Project Development Lead.  Under this role he is to serve as the assist in advancing large, complex, multi-modal, multi-jurisdictional projects with focus on P3s. 

His former colleague from the Virginia Department of Transportation, Morteza Farajian, was appointed Executive Director at the Build America Bureau earlier this year.

Last week the Illinois Department of Central Management Services announced it is to award a P3 advisory contract to EY for the disposition of the James R. Thompson Center in Chicago. Earlier this year EY was awarded a P3 advisory contract by IDOT, while RS &H was awarded IDOT’s P3 technical advisor mandate.

Meanwhile, responses are due today to an invitation to negotiate issued by Florida DOT to provide P3 financial advisory services. A shortlist is expected in January.
