Winner for USD4bn Bogota metro

The Colombian government has awarded the contract for a P3 to deliver the first line of the metro system in the Colombian capital.

State-owned authority Metro de Bogota and Colombia’s Ministry of Transportation have selected Transmimetro, a consortium of China Harbour Engineering Company, Xi'An Metro Company and Bombardier for the project.

The team will design, build, finance, operate and maintain 23.96km of elevated light rail with 16 stations, of which 10 will be integrated with the bus line Transmilenio.

Transmimetro beat a rival bid from Metro de Bogota, a consortium of FCC Concesiones de Infraestructura, Carso Infraestructura y Construccion and Promotora de Desarrollo de America Latina.

The contract will be signed in December.
