The Ministry of Transport, in partnership with Administración de Infraestructuras Ferroviarias, will issue a tender for the Tren Norpatagónico project in the first three months of 2019 for partners to design, build, finance and maintain 655km of rail infrastructure.
Linking Bahía Blanca with Añelo in Neuquén province, the project includes 566km of existing rail facilities on which the partner will conduct improvement works, while an 89km section will be constructed anew.
The authority estimates that works will last four years.
Meanwhile, Trenes Argentinos Infraestructura is soliciting responses from oil companies operating in Vaca Muerta to secure a share of cargo transport capacity along the line to move goods between Puerto Galván and Añelo.
Selected companies will be able to pay a reduced fee to use the line upon completion. Responses are due by January 9.
