A consortium including Egis and Omega has secured financing from Grupo Financiero Banorte for the Golfo Centro highway P3.
Under the $470m contract, the team will be responsible for the rehabilitation, maintenance and operation of 142km of toll roads between Mexico City and the port of Tuxpan for 13 years, with an investment of $110m.
State-owned development bank Banobras issued a request for proposals for the brownfield project in October last year.
Awarded in mid-January, the contract has been effective since February 1, when the consortium resumed operations.
A spokesperson for Egis told P3 Bulletin: “The previous operations contract with Caminos y Puentes Federales (CAPUFE) expired on January 31 and it was imperative for Banobras that the new operator resumed the contract on February 1.”
