100 attend Colombia metro forum

The City of Bogota has received substantial interest for the delivery of the first line of its metro system under a P3, following the launch of the final call to submit statements of qualifications.

A total of 147 representatives for 102 organizations from 20 countries have attended a briefing session on the technicalities of the procurement, with responses due by January 21, 2019.

The authority solicited pre-qualification documents from partners interested in the design, construction, financing, operation and maintenance of the first line of Bogota’s metro system in early August.

Under the $5.52bn project, a partner will deliver 23.96km of elevated light rail with 16 stations, connecting Bosa with Chapinero.

The authority has received financing commitments from the Inter-American Development Bank, the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development as well as the European Investment Bank.

Empresa Metro de Bogota will invite pre-qualified parties to submit proposals as part of the second phase of the procurement process.

The authority anticipates signing the contract in November 2019 for the project to be completed in June 2025.
