Winner for North Carolina uni P3

A university in North Carolina has selected a partner for a student housing P3.

North Carolina Central University (NCCU) chose a Corvias-led team to design, build, finance, operate and maintain a mix of new student housing and dining facilities at its Durham campus for 40 years.

Under the $115m deal, Corvias will deliver three student housing buildings with a capacity of more than 1,200 beds as well as a 7,000sq ft retail dining facility.

The team consists of Corvias, Vines Architecture (prime architect), Cooper Carry (associate architect), Metcon (general contractor), Dewberry (MEP and civil engineers), Lynch Mykins (structural engineer), Surface 678 (landscape architect), Wells Fargo (underwriter) and Holland & Knight (legal counsel).

NCCU issued a request for qualifications in early February, seeking partners to deliver the Chidley apartments, George Street and Lawson Street residence halls, with a dining facility at the Chidley apartments.

The university expects the Chidley apartments and George Street residence halls to open in fall 2020, while the Lawson Street residence halls will open in fall 2021.
