Oregon State University (OSU) is to award KPMG the contract for the Cascades Innovation District Economic Feasibility Study. A spokesperson for OSU told P3 Bulletin the next step is the contract execution with KPMG, expected within a few weeks, and the work of the contract would begin upon execution.
The university has plans to develop 1.2 million gross sq ft of new space, including 605,000 gross sq ft of academic and student life space, and 1,700 new student residential beds to be built over the next 20 or more years. Additional site elements include the potential for a public recreation center, early learning center and K-5 school, and a 380,000 gross sq ft Innovation District.
The district is envisioned to be an urban mixed-use environment that is comprised of industry and research partners that have strategic, symbiotic connections with the university.
Universities across the US are currently procuring P3 advisory services as the pipeline in the sector is set to ramp up.
Last week, California State University, Fresno retained Californian firm P2S as a technical advisor on the Central Utility Plant Replacement Project. The industry day for the P3 contract is to be held tomorrow, Friday. Statements of qualifications are due by November 29.
Meanwhile, Ohio’s Kent State University has informed P3 Bulletin no finalists have yet been chosen for their P3 advisory mandate, with bidders to be updated in the coming weeks. Interviews with shortlisted bidders had been scheduled for this week.
