Guatemala extends road deadline

Guatemala’s Ministry of Communications, Infrastructure and Housing (CIV) and PPP authority Anadie have postponed the deadline for prequalified companies to submit proposals on a road project.

After the consultation process with prequalified companies, the deadline to submit proposals for the Autopista Escuintla – Puerto Quetzal will be now April 5, after previously being set for March 15.

Prequalified companies requested the government to push back the deadline in order to strengthen their technical proposals.

Pre-qualified teams are:

  • Consortium Autopistas de Guatemala (Guatemala-Mexico)
  • JJC Contratistas Generales (Peru)
  • Mota-Engil Latin America
  • ANAS International Enterprise (Italy)
  • COCONAL S.A.P.I and Operadora Autopistas (Mexico)

The $80m project involves the construction and upgrade of 40km of road between Escuintla and Puerto Quetzal, a stretch within the route CA-9, which includes a toll.
