28 firms respond to Ohio River RFI

Twenty-eight firms have responded to the request for information (RFI) for the $2.2bn Ohio River Bridges project.

The Louisville and Southern Indiana Bridges Authority confirmed that 18 "large global names" including Cintra, OHL and Macquarie were involved along with five American firms. The remaining five were described as "small, local or regional". The list was a mix of developers and consultants.

Respondents answered questions on project delivery and operations and maintenance options.

Although the process does not constitute the start of the procurement process, a source confirmed that bidding teams are now forming, dependent on the delivery option chosen.

Construction includes a downtown bridge for Interstate 65 traffic, an East End bridge that will connect Interstate 265 in Kentucky and Indiana and a reconfiguration of the Interstates 65, 64 and 71 junction.
