Chile highway appoints bidder

Sacyr Concessions has won the US$315m La Serena-Vallenar highway concession in Chile.

Its $306.7m offer beat competition from rival bidders OHL, Consorcio Vial Chile and Consortium Ruta Elqui-Huasco.

The $300m stretch between La Serena and Vallenar of Route 5 North includes an upgrade of the section from the north exit of the city of La Serena to the southern entrance of Vallenar at a length of 187 miles.

Spanish consortium Azvi-Copasa won the original tender a year ago but failed to set up a company to operate the concession before the November deadline.
