The country’s electric power authority PREPA will select a financial and procurement advisor for the deal in early October, which will see the winning firm assist with the development and preparation for of the desirability and convenience study for the project.
A request for proposals was issued by the authority on 6 September for the deals, which will see the conversion of key power plants across the country to natural gas.
As reported by PPP Bulletin in July, the Puerto Rico P3 authority had been overseeing a number of permitting issues over the summer months, prior to the release of the RFP.
The country is also currently overseeing a number of key P3 deals in its transportation sector following the implementation of a new management team at the P3 authority in March.
