Nevada seeking toll road changes

The Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) is seeking to amend the state’s existing P3 law to legalise toll pricing in the state, PPP Bulletin understands.

NDOT will attempt to see new legislation passed in the state’s next legislative session to legalise congestion pricing, in the form of toll roads, in a bid to improve congestion management in the region.

The department has previously seen a number of unsuccessful attempts to amend legislation to include congestion pricing, citing a lack of understanding at legislative level for the lack of progress.

Nevada is also now looking at other states’ P3 models to facilitate future deals, with the shortlist due next month for Project NEON - the state’s only P3 project currently in procurement.
