Part of the country's so-called Fourth Generation of road concessions, the plan includes a 159km highway, with six tunnels and 126 bridges that will connect western areas Antioquia, Eje Cafetero and Valle del Cauca to the Magdalena river, Cundinamarca and the northeast of the country.
The proposals are also part of the wider Autopistas de la Prosperidad project, a $7bn plan to improve the highway infrastructure across the country.
