Quebec signs prison P3

A deal has been signed for a new prison P3 in the Canadian province of Quebec.

The deal for the Sorel-Tracy Detention Centre P3 has been agreed with the Horizon Justice Sorel Tracy consortium, led by Fiera Axium Infrastructure. It will see the team design, construct, finance and oversee facilities management at the prison.

Also as part of the 30-year deal, the team will receive monthly availability payments from the Société immobilière du Québec.

The firm was announced as preferred bidder for the project in April 2013 and has subcontracted the design and construction elements of the project to Pomerleau, the province’s largest construction firm.

Maintenance activities for the full duration of the deal have been subcontracted to Johnson Controls.

When completed, the facility will include 300 jail cells and 80 beds located in different dormitories, in order to accommodate discontinued sentences.
