Colorado plans three new road deals

The state of Colorado is to issue the request for qualifications (RFQ) for a new highway deal early next year with two more deals also in the offing, P3 Bulletin understands.

The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) will issue the RFQ for its I-70 East project in the first quarter of next year, once it has decided what model will be used for the procurement.

A decision is now due to be made over the next 30 days on whether to use a full design, build, finance, operate and maintain (DBFOM) structure for the deal.

Colorado is also working with Macquarie on the financial aspects of the proposed plan, which will see the development of the highway, running across the state from east to west.

In addition, the state is also working on two new highway P3 deals, which could be brought to market next year.

CDOT is preparing a billion-dollar deal for the northern section of the state’s I-25 highway and the C-470 beltway, with a DBFOM structure currently being considered.

Plans to issue tenders for the deal have yet to be confirmed however.
