EXCLUSIVE: Canada rail winner delayed

A winner for a new rail maintenance P3 in Canada is now expected in the second half of next year following the closing of the request for proposals (RFP) last week.

Infrastructure Ontario (IO) told P3 Bulletin that a winner for the GO Transit East Rail Maintenance P3 is now expected in the winter of 2014, a decision that had originally been slated for the fall of this year.

IO confirmed that the proposals were "going through an evaluation phase" and that an announcement will be made at the end of the commercial process.

The East Rail Development Group, Integrated Partners and Plenary Infrastructure ERMF are currently battling it out for the contract following the release of the RFP in March.

As part of the tender, which was issued in September last year, the winning team will oversee the design, construction, financing and maintenance of the new facility for GO Transit, Metrolinx’s regional public transit service for the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area.
