Kentucky city seeking govt buildings P3

A city mayor in Kentucky is hoping to make better use of government buildings by signing a deal with the private sector.

Lexington mayor Jim Gray wants several government-owned buildings on Main Street to be redeveloped into mixed-use facilities that can provide income from business, as well as supporting government services.

“A public-private partnerships just makes good business sense,” said Gray. “We’re looking to the private sector rather than asking taxpayers to foot the bill.”

Among the buildings that could be redeveloped are the Government Center, the Switow Building and the Phoenix building.
