Bidders line up for new Brazil road deal

Seven firms have expressed an interest in a new highway PPP in Brazil.

Although the firms have yet to be named, the country's ground transport agency ANTT confirmed that at least seven teams have registered bids for the BR-163/MT project, which will be tendered today.

As part of the proposals, the project will include the development, maintenance, operation and implementation of improvements and capacity expansion of the BR-163/MT stretch of highway in Sao Paulo, with a length of 850 miles.

ANTT is currently overseeing some 15 federal road deals, totaling 5,239.7km, as the country prepares to play host to the Fifa World Cup and the Olympic Games in 2014 and 2016 respectively.
