Odebrecht has been granted the concession for the federal highway BR-163 project, which is valued at $2bn and will include toll charges.
The team beat off rival bids from four other firms, including the Integração consortium, led by local engineering group Fidens Engenhria and local firm Triunfo Participaçoes e Investimentos.
Other bidders included local companies CCR and Galvão Engenharia, as well as the Rota do Futuro consortium, led by local tollroad operator EcoRodovias.
Launched by the national ground transport agency ANTT in October, Odebrecht will now be responsible for widening 454km of the 851km stretch of the road, with the addition of nine tolling booths.
