The Denver Regional Transportation District (RTD) confirmed that BRT facilities were on the organisation’s radar for the city and wider county.
Early environmental work is currently being carried out for the plans, but the RTD is considering partnering with the private sector to further develop the projects and potentially carry out the work under a P3.
“P3 is a possibility, the plans are at an early stage but BRT is certainly an area we are looking at,” said Pranaya Shrethsa, manager of systems engineering at the RTD.
The city of Denver is widely known to have overseen the successful procurement of one of the first US P3s, with the closing of the Denver Eagle P3 in 2010.
