Chair appointed for Gordie Howe bridge

The Canadian government has appointed a new interim chair of the Windsor-Detroit Bridge Authority (WDBA).

Minister of Infrastructure and Communities Amarjeet Sohi has appointed Dwight Duncan as chairperson of the board of directors of the WDBA, effective January 1.

The government said Duncan will be taking on the role on an interim basis in order not to delay the construction of the new Gordie Howe International Bridge.

Duncan has been a senior strategic advisor with the law firm McMillan since 2013.

The Windsor-native was previously a Liberal member of the Ontario Legislature for 25 years, when he held posts including finance minister and deputy premier.

The appointment follows last week’s announcement by the WDBA that a shortlist had yet to be finalized for the P3.
