Colombia plans train P3

Public authorities are working on the recovery of the Antioquia Railway, to be delivered under a P3 scheme.

Colombia’s transport authority ANI will provide the Antioquia government with technical, legal and financial support for the structuring of the P3 project to resume the Antioquia Railway. The public authority Metro Medellín will also assist in the project.

The historic 80km railway, that links Antioquia with Río Magdalena, will be upgraded into multi-rail system to transport passengers during the day and freight during the night.

“We see lot of potential in this project to divert the congestion of the entrances of Medellín trough the new train” said ANI president Luis Fernando Andrade.
