Uruguay and Paraguay to cooperate on P3s

The Uruguayan government is working with its Paraguayan counterpart to develop new strategies for infrastructure development and P3 projects.

Representatives of the Uruguayan National Development Corporation (CND) and Paraguay’s Technical Secretariat for Economic and Social Development Planning (STP) have studied areas of interest regarding infrastructure projects and P3s.

Both departments have looked at Paraguay’s National Development Plan (PND) for 2030, as well as possible technical cooperation between both countries to revise Paraguay’s P3 legislation.

In a statement Paraguay’s STP said: “Progress is being made in a cooperation agreement between the CND and the STP to continue collaboration in the areas of interest of both institutions.”

In September, Uruguay's Ministry of Economy and Finance launched the Road Network 5 program, which is to be delivered under a P3 framework. This year, Paraguay also awarded the road project Routes 2 and 7 to Sacyr.
