RFP for California waste deal

A county in California is seeking a partner to finance, develop and operate the solid waste system.

The County of Imperial is open to reviewing offers regarding privatization of solid waste operations or a P3 that create efficiencies and if possible maintains the same levels of service for residents.

Under the plans, the partner will have control of a significant waste stream to undertake the restructuring and modification of the existing solid waste site facilities.

The new operator will develop new business strategies for the entire county solid waste program, which includes long-term operations of solid waste sites, transfer facilities up to site closure, and post-closure care.

Statements of qualifications and proposals are due by February 15, 2018. A pre-submittal meeting is scheduled for January 18 in EI Centro.

Imperial County has an area of over 4,597 sq miles, bordering Mexico to the south, and Arizona to the east.
