Peru awards energy P3

Peru’s infrastructure authority ProInversion has awarded two transmission lines to be delivered under a P3 scheme.

Interconexion Electrica (ISA) has been awarded the 390km electricity connection between Mantaro-Nueva Yanango-Carapongo and the 184km Nueva Yanango-Nueva Huánuco connection, plus associated substations.

Under a 30-year concession, ISA will have 46 months to build the connections under design, finance, build, operate and maintain contract.

The projects will need a combined estimated investment of $574.5m, of which $272m will be financed by ISA plus a total annual operation and maintenance cost of $6m.

Other companies bidding for the project included Red Electrica Internacional, Conelsur, a consortium involving Terna and Cobra, and the CSG-PowerChina consortium.
