Travis County seeks courthouse feedback

Travis County in Texas has launched a request for industry comments on its planned courthouse project, including on options to fund the scheme.

Working with its advisory team, comprising Aecom. Alvarez & Marsal and CBRE, the authority is looking for industry feedback on how it might structure its proposed courts project, including on a planned real estate transaction and financing mechanisms that may be used.

In the document, Travis County says discussions had shown the potential for a “build-to-suit” real estate transaction, rather than through a purchase of land followed by a separate design-build process.

“Given this change in anticipated delivery method, the county felt it was important to re-open the door to all potential respondents to design, build and finance a new courts facility on an appropriate site within the county ,” the document explains.

Industry comments are due to be received by January 9, 2018, and a request for qualifications is expected to be issued in the first quarter of 2018.
