Developer John Laing has appointed a PPP expert as a director within its portfolio & risk management team.
Robert Newton joins from the Singapore Sports Hub operational PPP scheme, where he is an independent director, having previously served as the hub’s chief transformation officer and board director.
Prior to this, Newton was a director in the asset management team at InfraRed Capital Partners, where he had board-level responsibility for a range of PPP assets in the health, education, road, rail and court sectors.
He was previously managing director at Brookfield Services and Wiltshier FM, two-UK based facilities management businesses focused on the PPP sector, as well as managing director of Hyder Consulting, Thailand, an engineering consultancy.
“Robert brings over 40 years of experience in the design, construction, operation and asset management of major UK and international infrastructure assets,” said John Laing chief executive, Ben Loomes.
In his new role, Newton will report to Scott Springett, who leads the portfolio & risk management team.
