InfraRed’s HICL has picked up stakes in the A417/A419 Swindon-Gloucester and the A1(M) Alconbury-Peterborough shadow toll PFI projects.

The £34.4m deal saw the firm acquire a 33.3% stake in Road Management Group, the holding company comprising the two roads, from Abertis Infraestructuras.

Both roads were completed in 1998 and have 30-year shadow toll concessions, with Vinci-subsidiary Ringway operating and maintaining the stretches.

HICL said that the roads both “performed resiliently through the Covid-19 pandemic and are well positioned for further recovery”.
