Dubbed the Decarbonising Health Estates Partnership, the agreement will see the firms help the NHS in “developing and implementing” decarbonisation strategies across its estate.
Soft launched at an industry round table with former Secretary of State for Health and Chair of the NHS Confederation, Stephen Dorrell, the partnership will help develop “bespoke solutions” for NHS trusts to help reduce Scope 1 and 3 emissions from their infrastructure portfolios.
“This exciting new partnership aims to actively work with trusts to develop solutions which can transform their estates so that they are sustainable and fit for a Net Zero future,” said Bonnie Chu, healthcare design director at Wates.
“As an industry, we need to take a step back and take a holistic approach to simplify the opportunities available, using our experiences from other sectors be that hospitality through to education and applying them to a healthcare setting.”
A white paper on NHS decarbonisation is expected to be released shortly, which will be open for industry input.
