The Pakistani region of Punjab has implemented a new PPP framework to ramp up projects and attract investment.
The Punjab PPP Authority’s chief executive has said that the provision “will add new dimensions towards transforming the Punjab into an economically vibrant and socially sustainable province”.
Under the legislation amending an earlier PPP law, the authority has been given new powers to receive both solicited and unsolicited proposals in a bid to obtain more “innovative” projects and investment.
Pakistan is increasingly backing the PPP model to attract a “wide range” of private investment to deliver “sustainable and futuristic” developments. So far, Punjab has delivered projects in the road, industrial, health, sanitation and other sectors through private finance.
