Costain CFO to step down

Costain’s chief financial officer is to leave the company after 14 years in the role.

Tony Bickerstaff will step down from his position and as a director of Costain from 30 November 2020, pending the appointment of a new CFO to enable an orderly handover.

Costain said a search for Bickerstaff’s successor is now underway.

“Tony has been with Costain for 14 years and I would like to thank him for his significant contribution and personal commitment to the group during this time,” said Costain chair Paul Golby.

“I look forward to my next challenge and wish the board and my colleagues the very best for the future,” added Bickerstaff.

Last month, Costain reported a £92.3m pre-tax loss for the half year ended 30 June 2020, in part down to charges in relation to its Peterborough & Huntingdon energy contract and its Heads of the Valleys road contract. The latter saw a court case go against the firm in relation to works on the non-PPP section of the road.
