The national transport body’s board has appointed Peter Walsh as CEO, with the consent of the Minister for Climate Action, Communications Networks and Transport Eamon Ryan.
Peter Walsh is currently the Director of Capital Programme within TII. The Capital Programme Division is responsible for all TII’s transport infrastructure investment across both its national road and public transport portfolios.
Walsh is to replace Michael Nolan who was appointed to the role when TII was established in 2015.
The appointment followed an open international recruitment competition.

His commitment to engineering and management excellence has set TII on an exciting path. Both TII and the country owe him a debt of gratitude and we wish him well in all his future endeavors.”
Under Nolan’s tenure, TII completed three road PPPs, launched the Metrolink procurement, and delivered several major exchequer-funded projects including the Luas Light Rail Transit (LRT) network extension in Dublin. TII and the National Transport Authority recently awarded Jacobs Engineering the contract to undertake a route options analysis and develop initial designs for the proposed Luas system in Cork. Project Ireland 2040 and the National Development Plan make commitments to progressing the scheme.
With a portfolio of 15 PPP projects, Nolan had to regularly fend off intense scrutiny of the model, notably with vigour at parliament committees.
