Norway's largest road project tendered

The Norwegian government has issued a request for qualifications (RFQ) for the largest road project in the country’s history.

Statens Vegvesen (Norwegian Public Roads Administration) will hold an information meeting on the Rv. 555 Sotrasambandet (national road 555 Sotra Connection) PPP on 21 January 2020 from 12.00-15.00 at the Quality Hotel Edvard Grieg in Bergen. The meeting will be translated into English.

A site visit will take place on 22 January with the bus to depart Quality Hotel Edvard Grieg around 10.30am.

The aim of the procurement is to construct a dual carriageway between Storavatnet in Bergen Municipality and Kolltveit in New Øygarden Municipality. The contract includes, amongst other things, a new suspension bridge, four tunnels, six major split level junctions, new foot/cycle paths, new bus terminals, as well as upgrades to side roads and parts of the existing road network.

The winner will be responsible for the design, construction, financing, operation and maintenance of the contract for 25 years.

As previously reported, Statens Vegvesen told Partnerships Bulletin a shortlist of three is expected in the summer of 2020 with financial close in autumn 2021.
