Slovak airport tender date set

The government of Slovakia has approved an airport concession and revealed that a tender is being planned for early next year.

The Ministry of Transport will procure partners to redevelop, operate and maintain MR Štefánik Airport in Bratislava under a 30-year concession.

A spokesperson for the ministry told Partnerships Bulletin that a tender for the project should be available in March 2019.

The decision to pursue the project as a PPP-style concession follows recommendations from a study, conducted by Deloitte.

Under the current schedule, work for the project is expected to start in 2020-21.

The government put forward a draft proposal for the project in October.
