Advisors sought for Victoria transport projects

The Victoria government is seeking advisors for road projects and has selected advisors for the Melbourne Airport Rail Link.

Technical advisory services are sought for the Major Road Projects Authority (MRPA). Under the plans the advisor will provide centralised support to MRPA to develop and deliver its programme of road projects across the state.

Services are required cross multiple projects and progressed to various stages of development and/or delivery, including PPPs.

Proposals are due by 24 January.

Other advisors to MRPA include Advisian and Clayton Utz.

Meanwhile, the Aurecon Jacobs Mott MacDonald Joint Venture (AJM JV) has been appointed as a technical advisor and KPMG has been appointed as a commercial advisor for the Melbourne Airport Rail Link and has started early planning work.

During 2018, Rail Projects Victoria tested market interest from across the professional disciplines needed to deliver the multi-billion dollar project– including design, engineering, construction and finance.

The government will now assess the applications from the more than 100 organisations that responded and begin gauging the interest of potential private sector investors and operators.

The full business case is now underway, with the project set to begin construction by 2022.

Premier Daniel Andrews said: “We are not wasting a minute in getting this project planned, designed and delivered. The Melbourne Airport Rail Link is the next step in our transformation of Victoria’s public transport network and a key part of the Suburban Rail Loop.”
