Shortlist for Welsh road MIM

The list of teams bidding for the first project being delivered under Wales’s mutual investment model (MIM) has been whittled down from four to three.

Partnerships Bulletin understands that the consortium comprising Acciona with Aberdeen has failed to make it onto the shortlist for the £500m scheme, which will see a private partner design, build, finance and operate a section of the A465.

It means that the following three teams will now enter the dialogue phase with the Welsh government:

  • FCC and Meridiam;
  • Colas and BBGI;
  • Iridium and Hochtief

Dialogue is expected to begin in the coming weeks for the 33-year contract to deliver 17.7km of upgraded road between Dowlais and Hirwaun, as well as 2.2km off-line new road construction, among other works.
