UK uni launches £300m campus JV

A UK university has issued a contract notice for a campus project.

The University of Birmingham is seeking a development partner to enter into a joint venture agreement for the delivery of its Life Sciences Park.

Under the £300m contract, the joint venture will develop the campus on a 9.9 acre site in Selly Oak, near the university’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital Campus, Birmingham Women’s Hospital and the Institute of Translational Medicine.

Consisting of technology innovation platforms, commercial accommodation as well as other facilities, the project is expected to cover an area of 54,000sq m.

The university, which is the freehold owner of the site, appointed GVA to find a development and funding partner for the project.

Interested parties have until 17 December to submit responses.
