Stephen Hammond has been brought back into government to become the Minister of State for Health, after the previous incumbent, Stephen Barclay, was promoted to Secretary of State for Exiting the EU.
Hammond's brief includes finance, procurement and operational performance within the health sector, as well as setting the government’s mandate for NHS England and transformation and provider policy.
Hammond was previously Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Transport from 2012-14 and was Shadow Secretary of State for Transport from 2005-10.
