Johnson out as transport minister

Jo Johnson has quit his post as Minister of State for Transportation over the government’s handling of Brexit.

Johnson was the minister with responsibility for a number of major transport infrastructure policies, including Crossrail 2 and Northern Powerhouse Rail.

The brother of former Foreign Secretary and prominent Brexiteer, Boris Johnson, Jo Johnson had voted to remain in the European Union and has now claimed that the current likely Brexit is so far from that promised during the referendum campaign that a second vote should be held.

The government has yet to announce a replacement for Johnson, amid fears that he could be one of many who choose to quit the government over Brexit.
