UK - Balfour Beatty and Balfour Kilpatrick in joint venture

School contract worth £44.5m and hospital contract worth £16m won

Two contracts, with a combined value of £pound;60m, have been awarded to a joint venture between Balfour Beatty and Balfour Kilpatrick. Balfour Beatty is to work as a contractor on behalf of two special purpose companies for PFI schemes.

The first contract, worth £pound;44.5million, is for the design and build of new schools in Halifax and West Yorkshire. The scheme is to be carried out on the existing sites of the four secondary schools and one primary school.

The second, worth £pound;16m, is a West Park PFI Mental Health Hospital contract. A new hospital is to be developed for the County Durham and Darlington Priority Services NHS Trust. The estimated deadlines for the completion of the two projects are Autumn 2005 and Autumn 2004 respectively.
