Public Works Secretary told local news that the contract to build, transfer and operate a new four-lane road connecting Bacoor to South Luzon in Manila City has been awarded to Ayala Corp.
The Philippines-based construction firm beat-off competition from the South Expressway Link team, led by San Miguel Group. Both teams submitted their bids just last week, after pre-qualifying in August.
According to local reports, Ayala will invest $20m in the project, compared to San Miguel's bid of just $13m.
The project is the first of $1bn-worth of infrastructure deals that the Philippines government wishes to procure within the next year.
