Philippines launches second schools PPP

The Philippines’ Department of Education (DepEd) has invited firms to prequalify for the implementation of its second schools PPP.

After appointing a preferred bidder on the PPP for School Infrastructure Project (PSIP) Phase 1 earlier this year, the DepEd has unveiled phase II for the design, financing, construction and maintenance of approximately 5,000 schools and over 10,000 classrooms.

DepEd will prequalify firms based on legal, technical and financial capability before inviting the selected teams to submit their respective bids.

Valued at approximately $15m, the government aims to implement the scheme by late 2013, into early 2014.

Prospective bidders have until 12 February to submit applications for prequalification.
