Architects appointed for Canada hospital

A Toronto architectural firm has been selected for an imminent new hospital tender in the province of Ontario.

Zeidler Partnership Architects has been selected to lead the planning, design and compliance aspects of the Mackenzie Vaughan Hospital project, which is to be procured under a design, build, finance and maintain model.

The planning, design and compliance team will establish the guidelines and performance requirements that the successful building team must meet when preparing their designs.

Also as part of the deal, the team will also monitor construction progress and provide coordination and oversight services throughout the course of the project.

Once completed, the new hospital will include a state-of-the-art emergency department, modern surgical services and operating rooms, acute inpatient and intensive care beds and technologically advanced diagnostic imaging.

In addition, the facility will also include a specialized ambulatory clinics, single acute care patient rooms for infection prevention and control and a flexible design to permit adaptation over time as new thinking and best practices emerge.

Following completion of the planning process, a request for qualifications for the project will be issued.
